V.I. Takes over in 2nd Half to knock off Kasey's |

Celtics vs. Lakers, Tar Heels vs. Blue Devils, Village Idiots vs. Kaseys. Three of the biggest rivalry's in basketball. The Village Idiots and Kaseys continued their heated rivalry last night at Baldwin Park. The new look Kasey's filled with current and former South Side High School basketball players took the court to finally try to take down the always successful Village Idiots. From the tap it looked as if the Village Idiots were going to do what they always do to Kasey's, beat them down and take their lunch money. The tap was grabbed by VI veteran point guard Freddy "Fribble" Paul, he pushed the ball up court and passed to Forward Tom Casal who hit the first bucket of the game. "After that first play I thought it was going to be a long night for them," said Tom Casal at the post game press conference.
But then the VI was stunned on how quickly the younger Kasey's team took the first half from them. The Kasey's team came out stong, pushed the ball and penentrated the famous VI 2-3 zone. The first half ended with Kasey's up 28-20.
With some minor adjustments during the break the VI took back what was essentially theirs, rights to Baldwin Park. The second half was capped off with 31-3 run by the more experienced Village Idiot Squad. (It all started with 2 big buckets by the big man himself JY)
All in all, the younger Kasey's team was no match for the V.I. despite the fact only suited up 6 players. Big Performances by Freddy Paul, Tim Byrnes, Tom Casal, Matt Shiels, Frank "The Tank" Kelly, and Joe Young. Final Score 61-50 in favor of the Village Idiots!
The Village Idiots don't play again until July 9th but stay tuned for 4th of July BeerBQ news! Click here for the all-time Village Idiot Basketball Roster
