Spring 2007 - Game 8 |
The V.I. couldn't look smoother going into the Playoffs!(see full schedule and results by clicking here) We finally saw some Spring-like conditions down at Valley Stream State Park. The added heat was not kind to the Saints defense, as they spent most of the day on the field fighting off drive after drive of Village Idiots offense. Brian Stanley picked apart the secondary all game, and 4 different Idiots were on the receiving end of 5 TD passes. Randy Cardona led again with 2 scores, and Tom Weber, Oscar Alcantara, and Keith Lawrence all hit pay dirt throughout the day. Defensively, BStan also got involved and nearly returned an interception for a touchdown, only to be pushed out at the 1yd line. Lawrence also had a pick for the V.I. as the Saints' QB was under pressure all day from rotating foursome of Ronnie Traina, Tom Cahill, Danny Morgan and Dave Silva. The game was called at the two-minute warning as the Idiots held a 34-6 lead that would be the final score. The V.I. finish the season in first place at 7-1. Playoffs begin next Sunday - 5/27 The Village Idiots will get a bye for the first game of Playoffs, but will play the winner of the early game immediately following their game next Sunday...The V.I. are joined this season by members of Green Bay Home Improvement!
