The V.I. take down the L.I. Natives 30-19, Idiots are primed for the playoffs

It was a very windy day down at Bay Park in East Rockaway, but Brian Stanley was not phased as he led the Village Idiots offense into the wind for two first half scores against the LI Natives. Randy Cardona added to his team leading touchdown total to open the V.I. scoring, and after the Natives answered, Idiot veteran Dan Knipscher snuck past the defense and into the corner of the end-zone for his first score of '07. With the wind at their backs however, the Natives scored a second time as well, and the Idiots were down 13-12 at the break.

After conquering the wind in the first half, Stanley and the Idiots decided to brave it again and took the ball to open the second half with the wind in their face. It was no problem for BStan as he kept the V.I. offense moving with his arm and his legs. Some big pancake blocks out of Ronnie Traina and Danny Morgan opened wide holes for BStan and gave the Natives' D quite a headache. The Idiots regained the lead when Cardona snagged a bullet from BStan just inside the end zone and put the V.I. up 18-13. The Village Idiots Defense would takeover from there and ensure that they would never trail in this contest again.

After a quick stop by the D, BStan took some good advice from Knipscher and threw him the ball on a perfect flag route for DKnip's 2nd TD of the day to stretch the lead to 24-13. Tom Weber would also add to his all-time VI scoring total to round out the Idiots' offense output for the day, and only a last minute Natives' score kept it respectable, final score: Village Idiots 30, LI Natives 19...
