Spring 2007 - Game 1

The Village Idiots had to piece together a team for the first game of the season as the start time got pushed back to 2:30pm on Sunday. The new group didn't have much trouble coming together, scored twice in each half and allowed only two first-downs on defense to seal the shutout. The Idiots' started off the scoring with a 25 yd toss from Brian Stanley to Randy Cardona, and Tom Weber made a great catch and crossed the goal line to put the V.I. up 12-0 at the half.

The Defense stood strong, stuffing the run and knocking down a lot of passes as they held the Panthers scoreless in both halves. BStan connected with Randy again in the second half and also threw a 50 yd strike to Danny Ryan to close out the scoring at 24-0. A special mention has to be made about the contribution of Gary Tizio at center for this game. Oversized and overmatched for most of the game, Tizio kept the offense moving and also managed to make some big stops at his usual cornerback spot. Very tough effort!
