Fall '06 - Game 2

The Village Idiots took the field at noon this past sunday missing a number of weapons worried about the number of people that would show up for the game... The Village Idiots surprised with a LARGE turnout and performance from the usual suspects and new additions.

Newcomers Billy Dunlap at saftey, Paulie Linehan at OL and Javi Brolly all had notable contributions. Javi had 2 sacks at DL, Paulie complete shut down the pass rush and BD had 1 pick a couple of pass defenses and a couple of Catches at WR.

The offense was missing Reception Studs - Tom Casal and Dan Knipscher but "FILTHY" Tommy Weber and Gary "the Foot" Tizio picked up the slack. Weber posted 2 LONG TDs. Tizio contributed with 1 TD and 2 ep's.... Other offensive notibles were DRye w/ a couple of key receptions; Billy Dunlap also with a couple of long catches and an offensive line that shut down the pass rush of the hit squad and did a nice job of protecting the Hobbled Brian Stanley who had seemingly all day to throw the ball.

Defense received a boost by the defensive line which immediately shut down the run and forced the the Hit Squad into long passing situations. Pressure by Mike Robinson, Chuck Hill, and Donny had the opposing offense out of sync all day.. The key D Line Performer was Javi Brolly w/ 2 sacks and constant pressure. The LB Corp was stablized by the play of D Ryan who had a nice INT. DBacks also had a nice day with a pick by Dunlap and several pass defenses by Oscar A. The D pitched a shut out until late in the 2nd half when they gave up a garbage TD to make the final score a 20-6 V.I. victory.

Look for the VI to really step things up next Sunday at noon against a veteran LI Hurricanes Squad... The last meeting between the 2 teams was a playoff game in the spring of 04 and the VI stomped the hurricanes 40-7.
