Believe it or Not; The Idiots Win!

The first game of the double header was not pretty and over quick.  The V.I. only managed six hits in four innings and gave up an hour long 12-run 3rd inning to drop the game 16-1, enough said.

Fresh off his calf injury which has had him sidelined for way too long, outfielder John Walls gave the Idiots some inspiring words before game two.  The V.I. responded to Walls' positivity and played like the V.I. of old.   Walls led off the game with a double to left field and after some errant throws by Effin Groovin, JWally (4-5, 2 runs, 2 RBI)  scored to put the Idiots on the board.  The V.i  would get another run in the inning on Joe Bissett's sacfly.

The Idiots put up 4 more runs in the second inning to build on their early lead.  Effin Groovin score 3 runs over the next two innings and after another V.I. run they led 7-3 after three.  The Idiots would then score for the 4th straight inning putting up a 3-spot backed by shortstop Tom Stanley's two-run homerun.  Danny Cunningham (3-4, 2-3B)  hit one of his two triples later in the inning to bring home outfielder Steve Studley.

Village Idiot ace Steve Esposito continued his brilliant performance on the mound ending the game with 4 scoreless innings to pick up the 10-3 victory for the V.I..  Espo made several nice plays in the field and finished with two strikeouts in the win.
