VI Hoops Begins Quest for 3-Peat in the Town of Hempstead Summer League!

    By VI Administrator | June 14, 2009

The Village Idiots Summer league basketball team is no stranger to being in the finals, but what is different about this season from previous ones? This will be the first time in Village Idiot history where the team has a chance to 3-Peat. “We’re embarking on history right now, and it’s really exciting,” stated GM/ Forward Tom Casal.

But the Village Idiots don’t rest on there laurels. Team Manager, Tom Weber said, “We had a solid pickup in the offseason in John da Neighbor, and we always look to improve our squad, no one has a chance to beat us this year.” John da Neighbor was picked up due to the loss of Chris Harrison who is in love and doesn’t want to leave his college girlfriend for the summer.

The team will have most the familiar faces on the roster this year although there have been some rumors that familiar bodies might be a different story. Weight gain seems to be an issue for the VI this past year.

The team will be missing its leader and founder of the Village Idiots Dan Knip, so expect the VI 3 pt shot attempts to go down significantly. Dan will be in PA most of the summer on a new assignment. His spirit will be with the team though.

So can the VI 3-Peat? There will be some challenges for the VI this season with the loss of a couple of their teammates, but rest assured the VI will 3-Peat and they will be in the parking lot with their loyal fans enjoying a large number of cold ones!!!

The only precedents and records the village idiots shall be setting this year( and have started in previous years) is for poor sportsmanship and classless behavior. As far as their basketball talents, the village idiots can certaainly bring it on the floor- but in no way do blogs, hotdogging, and prima donna behavior(they need their own bench? Their own times?) represent anything that a champion should be- congratulations on the offseason pickups- its about the only thing you will need to be celebrating. The king is about to be dead- long live the new king!!!!!!

What team are you from Dream Crusher? Would love to know the name of the team that is going to beat us this year.

The line in Vegas right now is 3 to 2 that the Village Idiots go undefeated and Even Money that they win the title… if news of the extra-tight jerseys gets out those odds may get a little longer!

      Place your bets!!!

Maybe you would have went undefeated if some of the players on your team understood the concept 1 meal = 1 portion. Hey the Atkins diet doesn’t mean eat the whole cow.
