En Fuego El President Lincoln propels Village Idiots to 5-0 Start!
By Rausch | January 28, 2009
Lincoln Isetta scorches Fire Sauce VII with 25 points with the majority of the points coming from behind the arc. Village Idiots pulled away in the second half with pressure D and some tough points inside the paint from Edwin Caceres. “Tough points inside the paint” is an understatement, since that the refs only called 7 team fouls Fire Sauce VII the entire game.
When the refs were questioned after the game on why they didn’t call any fouls when the slaps could be heard across the gym, one ref was quoted as saying “ I couldn’t bare to watch that kid shoot any more free throws” …..the other ref refused to comment except to agree with the statement. (Zec no reason to rest those arms, Edwin has to shoot 80% the rest of the season just to get to 50%)
Despite the 63-50 win, Village Idiots, Aubrey Brown and Dan Knip protested the game….the protest states “gym didn’t conform to Urban League Standards”….when asked for the basis of the protest…they both agreed “there was no way they would miss that many shots if the baskets were regulation height” Knip went on the say, “that he has never played a game without making a three” He also broke another streak of never cutting back door….Andrew was somewhere in queens smiling.
Highlights of the Game
-Weber’s old school free throws….banking two consecutive off “the magic box”..who said banks close at five?
- Taylors sweeping cross lane baby hook (kind of took us back to the Magic Johnson hook against the Celtics in the ‘84 championships…for the record, Magic’s went in)
- Rausch kicked in his usual 5 assist, 15 turnovers….frustrated with the high number of turnovers, he was overheard saying “my teammates suc, nobody cuts back door and when they do they can finish”
Worst Call of the night
This one is a toss up….
On a normal night it would have been…the refs call out of bounds on VI underneath the hoop…last touch Lincoln….Lincoln was standing at the three point line and had been nowhere near the ball.
That call was topped….by that’s right, the Knipster, suggesting we go to brother Jimmies on 94th and 3rd rather then going to old reliable on 77th and 2nd or Southern Hospitality…..Not that I was not up for a romantic dinner with 5 of my teammates….but I would have like to have at least one chick to look at……at least Edwin broke his streak of not coming out….after that bar selection, we may never see him again. Thanks Knip
Until Next Friday
