    The VI BCS Bowl Preview!

    By Mystery Reporter | December 11, 2008

I am absolutely ecstatic about the Bowl game selections. Without a playoff, there will never be perfection in the current system… We have awesome games though. Let’s talk about em.

    Orange-Bowl

Orange Bowl: This Bowl plays out great. You get probably the 2 worst of all the 10 BCS Bowl teams in this game. Virginia Tech and Cincinnati are the only BCS conference champions that have no argument towards a BCS title shot. The Hokies finished strong and beat up a wounded BC team this past weekend to win the ACC. With no major wins and a 9-4 overall record this team isn’t raising too many eyebrows. This is their second straight tripto the Orange Bowl, and will look to avenge their loss to Kansas last year. Cincinnati is a great story this year at 11-2. Their 52-26 loss to Oklahoma sealed their fate at having a BCS shot. This is a good team and their program seems to be on the rise. I like this matchup… Va. Tech looking for a BCS win… The Bearcats are looking to put themselves on the map.

    Fiesta-Bowl

Fiesta Bowl: Thought it should be Boise State vs. Texas here, but I am not going to complain about my Buckeyes getting a shot. Texas is one dropped interception away from being in the title game. They finished 11-1, with wins over Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Missouri and Kansas. There only loss came against Texas Tech at the end of a brutal 4 game stretch. They have the most dominant defensive lineman in Brian Orakpo, who was hurt during the TT game. Offensively QB Colt McCoy is going to be the man. He can run it and throw it… And leads the team in both categories. Ohio State gets a chance for a little redemption here. OSU and the Big Ten has had their reputation beat up the last 2 years. As they are winless in their last 3 BCS appearances. RB Beanie Wells will be completely healthy for the first time all season. Will we see what the Buckeyes should have been this season?

     Rose-Bowl

Rose Bowl: Both of these teams could make arguements that they belong in the BCS title game… and why not? Both teams qualified with 11-1 seasons, neither team plays in a conference championship game though. Problem, I think so! I would like to see the Pac10 and Big Ten add a title game. PSU was a bit of a shocker this year, as Daryl Clark came out of nowhere to lead a potent Lions offense. PSU lost their best LB in Sean Lee prior to the season, and still managed to hold opponents under 12 ppg. Their biggest win of the season was a 13-6 win over the Buckeyes at “TheShoe”. The Trojans are the most talented team in the country, yet they continue to lose that 1 game every season… Both of these teams are very good, the winner will have an arguement that they deserved a shot. This game should be awesome.

     Sugar-Bowl

Sugar Bowl: Alabama comes off their first loss of the season and misses the BCS title game, as they get leapfrogged by the Gators. Utah finished their season undefeated and are the “BCS crashers” this year. Does anyone remember last year’s sugar bowl when Georgia obliterated Hawaii? That could happen again. The Mountain West was a tough conference this year, but I am not sure Utah is ready for Bama. The Utes squeaked by Michigan, TCU, New Mexico and Oregon State, and had their most impressive win against BYU. Bama got away from their run game against UF and won’t make that mistake again. We know how good the Tide are… we’ll find out just how good the Utes are in this game.

     BCS-Championship

BCS Title Game: Oklahoma vs. Florida… The Champions of the Big 12 and the SEC. Both teams are 12-1 and red hot coming into this game. Oklahoma lost back in early October to Texas, where bad special teams and no run game killed them. QB Sam Bradford has punished opponents since that point, averaging just under 60 points per game. They crushed Kansas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Missouri during that stretch. Florida lost its’ only game back in September and has been a wrecking ball ever since. Their closest game an 11 point win in the title game versus Bama. Tebow has been insane and probably notched his second Heisman with his outstanding play. This is the game many wanted, and this is the game people will get. This features two great QB’s, with 2 explosive offenses… Which defense will step up?

Woke up this morning and just had to express my feelings again that the BCS is a joke. 2-one loss teams for the title, when one of those teams lost to a team that is ranked 3rd.

      NONSENSE!!!!! NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are going to rob people, at least have the decency to wear a mask!

Okay, I have to be honest, if you just think of exciting football, the BCS bowls should all shake out to be exciting/interesting games, with hype, except for Alabama vs. Utah.

I think Alabama is going to take Utah and go n*tt to b*tt all night long.

      Not an exciting football game.

      Exciting

      Ohio State vs. Tx
      PSU vs. USC
      Oklahoma vs. Fla.

Even Michael Z’s Va. Tech Criminals made it into the fold. Being paired with an up and coming program such as Cincinnatti. Interesting, but not exciting.
