A few thoughts on College Football going into Week 8…

A few comments…
BYU getting murdered last night was very surprising! Was hoping for theBYU - Utah showdown at the end of the season. Either way the Horned Frogs were fired up and hammered the Cougars. Bye Bye BCS for BYU.
Does anyone else feel like the Vanderbilt magic is over? I think Georgia rolls big in this one, to setup a showdown with Florida.
Pitt vs. Navy is also a solid matchup this week. Pitt seems to be getting better and better. A win here moves them to 5-1 with a relatively quiet schedule the rest of the way. This is my pick to win the Big East!!!
Oklahoma has a tough bounce back game against Kansas… They better be ready!!! Texas vs. Mizzou is the game of the week though. Can Texas play at a high enough level this week? I like Mizzou here.
The Big Ten has two pretty good games going on this week. First off Ohio State vs. Michigan State. OSU hasn’t been what I thought they’d be this year… They cannot throw the ball, and teams are stuffing the boxa gainst Pryor and Beanie. MSU is another running team, and Javon Ringer is a talent. The Buckeyes win this game. Beanie is the best back in the country and OSU has a better defense. This game is all about running the ball. The other game is Penn State vs. Michigan. On paper PSU should crush UM, but they haven’t won against Mich since the 1800’s. Even in their 12-1 Orange Bowl season 3 years ago… The one loss was against… yep Michigan. That streak ends big. PSU is one of the top teams in the country right now.
The Pac 10 has a couple of… YAWN… Excuse me. Yeah the Pac-10 has nothing going on again, and I will hate this league until we see a little more parity.
One other game to keep an eye out for… LSU vs. South Carolina… I predict the Gamecocks to win here. UPSET ALERT!!!!
Ok, other tidbits… What happened to Rutgers? Oh man, the Scarlet Knights haven’t beaten a Div 1A team yet this season. Oklahoma State is going to be competing big time in that Big 12 South Conference. And last but not least, I’d like to give a shout out to Duke!!! I hope the Dookies knock off Miami this week…

Hello boys and girls. My apologies, no excuses, but this guy has been quite busy with work. Regardless of who your favorite team is, this week has a great slate of football games. I stand at 27-12, including all PSU games (though I made zero picks last week). This week, I think some of my picks might surprise you.
Game 1: Mizzou @ TX - TX and Colt McCoy looked very good last week against Oklahoma. Bottom line is, I do not think Mizzou can stop anyone on defense, but TX can. TX WINS!
Game 2: Kansas @ Oklahoma - Kansas might give Oklahoma a run for their money. However, the fact that this game is in Norman, and Bradford and company are really good, the Sooners WIN!
Game 3: Ohio State @ Michigan State - Both have solid running games. OSU has showed me more defensively, but neither seems to have much of a passing game. Ohio State has been very inconsistent this year. This game will be in East Lansing and is a perfect opportunity for former OSU coach Mark D’Antonio to show everyone he TRULY belongs. I think MSU’s qb Hoyer is better than Pryor right now. If MSU does not turn the ball over, plays fundamentally sound football, watch out. MSU WINS!!!
Game 4: Vandy @ Georgia - Vandy lost to a Miss. State team last week that is better than most think. In this game, I think Vandy comes ready to play between the hedges, but UGA VII, K. Moreno, and company end up being too much for the commodores. UGA WINS!
Game 5: Miss @ Alabama - Sorry JWALLS, I am going with REBELS for the UPSET. Have to take a few chances. Mississippi has acquired some talent, and the 3 games they lost were nailbiters. The SEC always beats up on each other and one team usually knocks off a big guy. I think this is that game. It is getting no attention, and that is usually when it goes down. The confederate flags will be waving.
Game 6: Michigan @ PSU - Of interest to me are my Nittany Lions. Throw the records out the window, because Michigan is not as bad as their record indicates. The Wolverines will try to come into Beaver Stadium and punch PSU in the mouth. If they do and they will stay in the game for a bit. However, in the end, if PSU does not turn the ball over, with this being homecoming, I think PSU pulls away in a another blow out.
