The Belmont Stakes is here! Let’s Get That Money!!!

It’s gonna be a HOT one this Saturday for the 140th Running of the Belmont Stakes… Bring your bonnets ladies and let’s hope there is plenty of shade to hide under in between trips to that ticket window to collect the BIG BUCKS!!! You can bet they’ll be keeping that track fast and firm for the ponies and there will be a TON of money to be won… let me let you in on a few of the picks I’ve got my eye on for Saturday:
Race 1 - I’ll take the #4 horse in this one, Tizbig… like my Grandmother taught my Father, and in turn he taught me, John Velazquez LIVES for the big days at Belmont! He’ll be eager to get off to a good start, and at 15-1, a win here would get my day off to a good one as well! C’mon Johnny!!!
Race 2 - The Knipscher family’s favorite Jockey rides again in this race, and to make things even better, he’s aboard a Todd Pletcher product… the #2 horse, Zong. Over the years, Pletcher and Velazquez have filled my pockets with plenty of beer money at tracks and OTB’s across the US. Throw a six pack on this one and watch it turn into a case!
Race 3 - Let’s cross the Velasquez family tree to Cornelio in this race… he’ll be riding the favorite, Smart Enuf, but to make it worth your trip to the booth, pair this gelding with Piazza di Spagna, ridden by Ramon Dominguez, and you have yourself a 8-4 Exacta that should help you pay for some ice-cream cones for you and your friends.
Race 4 - If you’ve ever seen “Eyes Wide Shut” you have to throw $2 on #2 - Fidelio in this one.
Race 5 - The 5-Yr-Old Commisioner Chris at the #4 spot catches my eye in this race… with that kind of seniority, he’s certainly been used to following the pack and should remain in contention, giving Rudy Rodriguez a chance to put a finishing move on to cash in… bet him to place in this one and you should collect!
Race 6 - The favorites in this race look as strong as they sound… #7, Benny the Bull (ridden by E.Prado) is favored over the #2 horse, Thor’s Echo (ridden by Garrett Gomez), but let’s not forget about our boy Johnny V. in this one… he’ll be riding the #8 horse, Man of Danger, which will add some odds to the 7-2-8 Trifecta I recommend in this one. (Take it as 2-7-8 also, in case Gomez gets that whip
out late)
