Rangers take down the Devils… Who’s Next?

    By Mystery Reporter | April 21, 2008

Crease-ActionThe Rangers wasted no time ousting the Devils with a 5-3 game #5 victory. Was it a coincedence that the boys and I were in attendance at Redemption again? I don’t know, but until they lose that’s where I’ll be for the drop of the puck.

The Rangers looked very good. After the Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead, the Blueshirts got the equalizer less then a minute later. With the score tied at 1, Jagr scored a power play goal with a nesty wrist shot that beat Brodeur. Gomez put the Rangers up 3-1 when his shot found the back of the net, behind a frenzied battle in front of the Devils goaltender. Drury provided the game winner early in the second period off a beautiful pass from Nigel Dawes. New Jersey rallied and pulled it to 4-3 by the end of the period. John Madden had a chance to tie the score when he was awarded a penalty shot midway through the 3rd. Lundqvist shut him down, and that would be all she wrote. Dubinsky added an empty netter to give the Rangers a 5-3 win.

The list of potential second round opponents is longer then my—-Well it’s long. Montreal, Washington, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are all possibilities.

The Croation Sensation was definitely feeling good about the Rangers win, as he made bets with Pete on the blueshirts making it to the cup!! More details to come…
