With NHL Playoffs Nearing - Rangers Turning it up!!!

    By Mystery Reporter | March 19, 2008

    Avery

After a tough weekend in Florida, the blue shirts bounced back with an impressive 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The win gives the Rangers 85 points, and sole possession of the sixth seed in the Eastern conference.

Sean Avery stole the show with two goals, as he continues to tear it up. One goal contributions from Ryan Callahan, Marty Straka and Freddy Sjostrom helped seal an important two points. Lundquvist was solid in goal, and outplayed his counterpart Ty Conklin.

Next up for the Rangers are the New Jersey Devils. They will square off tonight, with the blue shirts looking to close the gap on the Atlantic Division/Eastern Conference leading team. A win here, and the Rangers will be within 3 points of the Conference lead.

On another important hockey note, the Islanders have gone in the tank. Losing 6 in a row, they are now all but mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. To add to the bad news, the Isles lost Goaltender Rick Dipietro for the remainder of the season. This doesnt bode well for our own ”Allock of the Week”, who is looking to be on the short end of a very intense bet involving a truckload of PBR.  Rangers lead over the Isles is 14 points with 1 game still in hand. The bet is 20 points!!!!

Does anyone even watch Hockey anymore? I’d be interested in an educational article on a plan of how to either revive hockey or why hockey has become a “lost” sport in America. You got it in you Mr. Mystery Writer?

Mr. McCoy - While I agree that Hockey is not as popular as the big three (Basketball, Football & Baseball) it certainly has a vast fan base. I think the overall popularity of Hockey will increase over time. Good Day!
