Fall '06 - Game 8 & 9

The Village Idiots were in the driver's seat going into Sunday's season finale doubleheader. A win in their first game against RC Dugans and they would secure the 4-seed in the playoffs...

The V.I. started out strong in this one, stopping Dugans on their first drive and marching down field to take a 7-0 lead as BStan threw a TD pass to Oscar and Tizio kicked the extra point. The game remained close throughout and with a BStan toss to DRye the Idiots went ahead 13-6 with 1:30 left in the game. Dugans managed to drive quickly and tied the scored with 14 seconds left. A V.I. hail mary was knocked down and the game went to OT.

Dugans got the ball first and scored on a tipped pass on 3rd down. Then, unfortunately, the Idiots came up short on their rebuttal and dropped the game 20-13.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the V.I. faced off against the LI Hurricanes for the second time this season. A game that didn't see much defense had the Idiots trailing at the half 19-16, with V.I. newcomer catching both TD passes.

The Hurricanes implemented their rushing attack in the second half and the V.I. Defense was unable to respond. A couple of long TD dashes led to an easy victory for the Canes 34-16.

The playoff picture is uncertain at the moment... please stay tuned for the updates this week as the games will likely start next Sunday, with a potential doubleheader right out of the box for the V.I.
