Urban Pro League - Winter 2009

The Village Idiots have returned to the Urban Pro League for the first time since 2006. In the season opener, Dan Knipscher scored 16 of his game-high 21 points in the first half as the Idiots opened up a big lead early against New Gotham. They kept up the harrassing defense all game and cruised into a 52-41 victory --- Linc Isetta scored 11 quick points out of the gate and led a balanced attack from behind the arc and driving to the hole as the VI opened up a 20 point lead against Balls Glory in the 2nd game of the new season. Ty Springer, Ed Caceres and Aubrey Brown joined Isetta in double-figures as the Idiots moved to 2-0 with a 60-47 victory --- The Idiots got a run for their money early in the 3rd game of the Winter Season as their opponents, the Stringer Bells were nearly perfect from behind the arc in the first half. However, the Idiots' balanced offensive attack led by the 2-man game of Ed Caceres and Ty Springer were a formidable match for the longe-range bombers and they led by 4 at the break. The VI defense turned up a notch in the second session and Caceres was just too much for the Bells down-low as it seemed each time the Bells mounted a comeback, they were answered by a punishing score on the other end. In the end, the Idiots moved to 3-0 with a 65-55 victory!
