Idiots' 10th Straight Win Brings Them to 4-0

The V. I. took the court to begin the game a confident bunch looking for their 10th straight win and seemed to think it was going to be an easy night at the office.  Even though the Leprechauns were all fat, old, goofy white guys, they gave the Idiots some troubles early on as their shots were falling.  Forward Tom Casal had a big 1st quarter scoring 7 quick points to help the V.I. go up 20-13 after one.

The 2nd quarter was more of the same.  The Idiots did not seem comfortable shooting the ball and more lucky shots fell for the Leprechauns as they outscored the V.I. 16-10 in the quarter to narrow the margin to a point heading into the half.

Some halftime adjustments were made and the V.I. put it to them in the 3rd quarter.  The Idiots switched out of their normal 2-3 zone and into man-to-man to confuse and get out on the shooters more.  The high pressure defense help create easy transition baskets and "Top-Cop" Greg Gormsen, Dan "Double D" Dougherty, and Tommy Weber (2) all hit key three-pointers in the quarter to build a 51-38 lead going into the 4th.

Early in quarter four, the Leprechauns got a few more lucky baskets early on to make it a little interesting, but the V.I. stood strong and pulled away for the 64-48 win.  The Fribulator had a nice 4th quarter with several good looks to setup easy baskets for his fellow Idiots.

Come down next Monday night (7/24) and support the V. I. as they take on Johnny Cakes at 7:30pm.  As always, tailgate to follow!!!
