The Idiots Look Strong in Key Victory

Wednesday night, the Village Idiots returned to the O'Shea Junior High for the first time since the pre-season to take on the big front line of the team known as "Suppertime". As was evident by the height and weight seen rumbling in the pre-game warmups, this team was clearly named after their favorite part of the day.

That size was a major factor in the early going as the Idiots struggled to collect rebounds and left their opponents a number of second chances to keep the game close. The Idiots looked like the better team for much of the first half, but the size mismatches contributed just enough buckets for Suppertime to keep the V.I. from pulling away.

A late arrival by the Village Idiot floorleader T gave the V.I. a boost after the halftime break. Floor balance and a patient offensive attack eventually paid off as the Idiot lead stretched to nearly 20 points, frustrating the opposition. The victory needed only to be sealed by late free-throws as Suppertime tossed in a few last minute bombs from long range to narrow the final margin to a deceivingly respectable 75-68. Village Idiot fans can take some confidence away from this one that it looks like the V.I. is shaping into a clear playoff contender!
